Wonderstate Coffee is a quality and sustainability focused coffee roastery located in Viroqua, Wisconsin. The company has a small-town ethos with a deep concern for the global impacts of the coffee industry. Jamie Lamonde joined Wonderstate Coffee from 2016-2020 as their Marketing + Sales Director, bringing a deep background in the organic and cooperative movements after working at Organic Valley for more than a decade. Wonderstate Coffee, then an 11-year-old company, was a well-recognized brand in southwestern Wisconsin, but sought greater regional and national recognition in order to continue to grow their sales and mission.

In 2016, Jamie worked with Gage Mitchell, Kindship Group’s creative director and principal of Modern Species, to completely overhaul and relaunch Wonderstate’s website. The new website featured the company’s recently refreshed 12 oz. bag design, thoughtful at-home brewing guides and straightforward coffee education to funnel customers to an updated, user-friendly online shop. These assets were paired with targeted social media and email marketing campaigns, sales drives, and new subscription offerings. The result was a doubling of ecommerce sales within the year.

Not long after, Jamie brought Shizue Roche Adachi on to her team as Brand + Marketing Manager for Wonderstate. Shizue was essential in stimulating and facilitating the renaming of the company, then named Kickapoo Coffee, an appropriation of the Kickapoo Nation. Beginning in April 2019, Jamie and Shizue led a comprehensive team to rebrand all facets of the business, including naming, brand strategy and platform, packaging, website, in-store materials, social media, public and internal communications, and much more. Jamie and Shizue partnered with Portland-based design firm Jolby on brand strategy, naming and design. The project successfully culminated in summer 2020.
